Radio Broadgreen studios are housed in Warmington Lodge. Once the original gate house for the main entrance to Highfield Infirmary/TB Hospital (before it changed name to Broadgreen Hospital). Warmington Lodge is over 100 years old and needs some care and attention.
As you can see on the map below from https://www.workhouses.org.uk Thomas drive didn’t exist (it was just a footpath running past the Hebrew cemetery) and so the main entrance to the hospital site was down Warmington Road from East Prescot Road (with Warmington Lodge marked as “Lodge” in the top right of the image below).

Incidentally looking at the map our original studios from 1983 where opposite the “Nurses’ Home” – before that area was all demolished for the nursery and car-park.

With great thanks to NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, the site has been cleared and essential roof works have now been completed to the main building and outbuilding. The satellite dishes that connect us to the IRN network have been realigned to allow us to bring Sky News once again and work continues to tidy up the kitchen and staff areas inside as well as planning to update the studios. Further work need to be done but unfortunately there is simply no budget.

HELP! If you are a local building contractor/maintenance company and would like to support this charity with the work on Warmington Lodge, please contact us by email. We would appreciate any offers of help for this project to allow Radio Broadgreen to continue. Thank you.
