50 Years of LHBS
Yes it has been 50 years since the start of this charity. It all started in 1975 as Radio Newsham based at Newsham General Hospital in Liverpool 6. Since then we launched Radio Broadgreen and so changed the charity name from Radio Newsham to LHBS Click on this link for more information.
2024 Long Service Awards
This year will see two of our members celebrating Long Service Awards.
Congratulations go to Mike Quinn who celebrates thirty years of service to Radio Broadgreen. Mike works permanent nights but still manages to get to the studios each Sunday as he has done for the past three decades.
Congratulations to Thomas Nevitt who celebrates ten years of service to Radio Broadgreen. Tom actually works for the Trust during the week and spends his Saturday’s at the studios with his “Dinner & a Movie” show.
Both Mike and Tom receive certificates noting their dedication to hospital, health and wellbeing broadcasting from the Hospital Broadcasting Association.
It Only Got To…
Starting Wednesday 9th October 2024, we have a brand new radio series to bring you on Radio Broadgreen.
Join Richard Smith every Wednesday evening at 7pm for Only Got To… – the series will take a chart position and play some of the tracks from the decades that only got to that chart position. Did you know “Parklife” by Blur only got to number 10 in the UK charts in 1994? Tune in this Wednesday evening and find out what chart number will feature this week.
Hello Radio Broadgreen listeners!
Welcome to the new Radio Broadgreen website.
So after 40 years of broadcasting from studios in the grounds of the Broadgreen Health Park, we start October 2023 with a fresh looking new website which performs better for people viewing via tablets, laptops or smart-phones.
The use of the free wi-fi on hospital sites now allows hospital radio to be delivered to patients and staff in super audio quality. What’s the point of much hard graft of raising funds for this charity and spending it on expensive radio equipment if we don’t deliver a quality product in quality stereo?
And since the introduction of free wi-fi on hospital sites, we have found most patients will make use of the service.
So sit back and enjoy what we have to offer……..oh and thanks for listening.
