Radio Broadgreen plays 5,000th Charity Filler

On compiling stats for Charity Fillers, Radio Broadgreen played the 5,000th Charity Filler to be aired since Charity Fillers started in March 2024. Charity Fillers are a non-profit providing a platform for charities and other such organisations to distribute adverts/promos to radio stations across the UK.

The 5,000th Charity Filler was for the Scar Free Foundation featuring Simon Weston and two other scarring patients. Other radio fillers include Alcoholics Anonymous and Doctors of the World Organisation.

Spencer Pryor of Charity Fillers said: ‘We are extremely pleased that we’ve reached this milestone in just four months of operation.

“Our thanks go out to the 70 participating UK radio stations for generously donating their ‘filler’ airtime and supporting the great charities that are part of Charity Fillers.

“As always, we always looking for more radio stations to join Charity Fillers and we will thank them for donating a few minutes of airtime each week to help good causes. Let’s see if we can hit 25,000 airtime plays before the end of 2024!” For more information about Charity Fillers, take a look at their website here.

League Cup Final 2024

Thursday 22nd February 2024 – Radio Broadgreen Sport have not been successful with it’s application for accreditation for the EFL League Cup Final 2024 fixture of Chelsea v Liverpool FC.

Although the Hospital Radio Football Network have been providing sports commentaries to hospitals since the 1950s and have been based at Radio Broadgreen since the 1980s, we are disappointed by the decision from the EFL.

Unfortunately it is too late to sought an alternative for this Sunday’s fixture and will come as a huge disappointment for the patients & staff in the hospitals we serve as the League Cup Final is only available via subscription TV.

RBG Sport at Anfield – update (January 2024)

Following a recent request to resume broadcasts from Anfield stadium, Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that our commentary team should be able to resume from Wednesday 31st January 2024 for the Liverpool FC v Chelsea FC fixture.

It is hoped that this fixture will be broadcast to the hospitals we serve from 8pm.

Knowing how popular the Radio Broadgreen Sports commentary service is to the hospitals we serve, we can only apologise for the lack of commentaries from Anfield this 2023-2024 season due to the redevelopment of the Anfield Road stand.

RBG Sport at Anfield (October 2023)

Please note: Due to the redevelopment of Anfield stadium that caused damage to cables feeding our commentary position on the Sir Kenny Dalglish stand, we are unable to provide any Liverpool FC commentaries at present.

Liverpool FC have not offered any alternative. Due to the nature of our licencing, we cannot re-broadcast commentary from our colleagues at BBC Radio Merseyside. We can only apologize for the current situation which is out of our control.

Hello Radio Broadgreen listeners!

Welcome to the new Radio Broadgreen website.

So after 40 years of broadcasting from studios in the grounds of the Broadgreen Health Park, we start October 2023 with a fresh looking new website which performs better for people viewing via tablets, laptops or smart-phones.

The use of the free wi-fi on hospital sites now allows hospital radio to be delivered to patients and staff in super audio quality. What’s the point of much hard graft of raising funds for this charity and spending it on expensive radio equipment if we don’t deliver a quality product in quality stereo?

And since the introduction of free wi-fi on hospital sites, we have found most patients will make use of the service.

So sit back and enjoy what we have to offer……..oh and thanks for listening.
