Gordon joined Radio HBS in Glasgow in 1985 – collecting requests and helping with the production of the Monday night request programme.
Moving to Dundee he joined Radio Tayside in 1986 as a request collector for the Thursday night request programme. He was invited to train as a presenter and passed his audition in 1986.
Unfortunately illness meant that he had to stop presenting in 1992. It was not until 1999 that he was able to make a limited return by recording 30-minute Music Box programmes.
